Tom & Camille Wall Family's Fall 2007 Newsletter

Happy Fall! We are relieved by the drop in temperatures finally, but are still hoping for a lot of rain to end this drought. Cool, but not cold yet, it was warm enough to trick-or-treat without a coat. This was our first year celebrating Halloween in our neighborhood, and to our delight, there were a ton of children out trick-or-treating in the neighborhood. By 8:30 people had run out of candy! One family gave out caricatures and business cards instead of candy. Clever!

Ashley was the cutest Dorothy in all of Georgia, thanks to Debbie making her the adorable dress and finding the perfect ruby slippers. Camille stayed dressed up as the wicked witch from her work party earlier in the day. Tom, and our friend Jack, dressed up as a couple of guys taking their kids out trick-or-treating and stealing candy out of their baskets when they weren’t looking. They were very convincing!

We are looking forward to a visit to Utah for Thanksgiving. We’ll get to see family and friends from both Camille’s side and Tom’s side of the family. We’ll also get to meet Anna’s fiancée. We’d like to take this moment to rub it in that we will get to be the first out of Tom’s family to meet him. Thank you very much. J Camille has proposed that her family casts a vote after the Thanksgiving dinner about whether or not the decision to allow him into the family will be approved. Details to come. Ballots will be online shortly. (Just kidding, Anna!)

Provisions for Anna’s January wedding are now underway. Camille is working with Beth to plan Anna’s bridal shower. (We can now announce that since it is no longer a surprise shower.) Tom would like to stay completely out of the affair, except to offer an opinion about everything. Ashley will just be cute and available for photos.

Tom would like to resume his woodworking hobby. Since it costs money, he is contemplating how to buy power tools that are outside of the family budget. If you have any odd jobs for him, please let him know. He is compiling a list for Santa, so hopefully he has been a good boy this year. He would like an air compressor nail gun thing, so he can build himself a table for the saw he wants to pick up from his parents’ garage. He also wants to use it to make a playhouse for Ashley. Don’t you, Tom?

Ashley spends a lot of time singing in the bathtub lately. You might say that it is her favorite pastime. She makes up all kinds of songs. Her latest hit, entitled, “I just can’t stop thinkin’ about it,” will be released early next year. (If we can get it recorded.) Her fascination with Mandy Patinkin continues as she watches “Elmo’s Adventures in Grouchland” several times each day. It’s her new favorite. She has also been learning about occupations in school. When asked about her occupation of choice, she declared that she wants to be a princess because they are beautiful!

Camille has been inventive in the kitchen lately. She has discovered parsnips and rutabagas. (They are both vegetables, in case you didn’t know.) So far the salmon quiche, and the rutabagas and applesauce have not won the family over. But maybe the parsnip cakes will. (Shhh! Don’t tell Tom and Ashley that they are on the menu. If they find out they will probably stop at McDonalds before dinner.)
